For the 2017 harvest Grimme launched their updated Grimme Varitron 470 Platinum edition, following the 270 2 row Platinum bunker harvesters. This machine harvests 4 75cm rows and has a 7 tonne holding bunker which can unload on the move. This machine has been fitted with Trimble RTK-GPS and yield mapping from Precision Makers. The variety harvested is Innovator, destined for McDonald’s french fries. The machinery belongs to Dutch specialist contractor and farmer Vedelaar.
Two tractors are busy carting the crop to the farm. A New Holland T6.160 and John Deere 6125R both with 18 tonne Beco tandem axle trailers. We also follow the crop as it is stored using a Miedema reception hopper and brand new Breston conveyor belts and store filler.
