Harvesting specialist Ploeger from Holland changed the colour scheme on all their machinery for 2016 onwards. That makes this brand new AR-4W self propelled 4 row potato harvester a striking sight across the fields. This machine is owned by two Dutch farmers in the Flevopolder. Two Fendt 820 Vario tractors and 26 tonne Beco three axle trailers can easily keep up with the machine’s appetite since the field was only behind the farm.
The AR-4W harvester features a 5 cylinder 9.3L Scania DC09 engine which delivers 396 HP maximum output. The Engine is Stage 4 compliant and uses Adblue. There are 270/95R54 row crop wheels on the front and a pair of Claas Terra Trac’s at the rear. With dimensions of 14.5m length, 3.5m width and 4m height it is a very impressive machine. For road transport the Claas Vista II cab slides forward. During lifting it rotates for an uncompromising sight for the driver. As can be expected from this potato monster it doesn’t thread light with 27.500 kg empty weight! But, it is of course a lot lighter than a comparable bunker harvester.
